ADMA Agricultural Show

The ADMA Agricultural Show is Zimbabwe’s flagship farming and agribusiness event, held annually at ART Farm in Harare’s Borrowdale suburb. Run by the Agricultural and Rural Development Authority of Matabeleland and associated farming bodies, the show has grown over decades into a four-day trade fair that draws exhibitors from across the country and southern Africa.

What to expect

The show floor covers livestock judging, crop displays, machinery demonstrations and a dedicated agri-tech zone where companies exhibit precision farming tools, irrigation systems and seed varieties suited to Zimbabwe’s growing conditions. Cattle and goat judging competitions run throughout the first two days, drawing serious breeders from commercial and communal farming backgrounds. The produce pavilions showcase cereals, horticulture and value-added products from cooperatives around the country.

Beyond the trade floor, the ADMA show hosts forums and panel sessions on topics like irrigation finance, smallholder land tenure and export market access. If you work in agribusiness or are simply curious about Zimbabwe’s farming economy, these sessions offer useful context that you won’t find in a tourist brochure.

Expect a bustling fairground atmosphere: food stalls, craft traders, children’s entertainment and evening social events make this as much a community gathering as a trade show, particularly on the weekend days.

Practical information

The event runs from Thursday through Sunday, with trade and wholesale buyers dominating the first two days and families and general visitors arriving in larger numbers on Saturday and Sunday. Day tickets are available at the gate; check the official website (agrishow.co.zw) closer to the date for current pricing. The ART Farm site is well signposted from Borrowdale Road. Taxis and ride-hailing apps serve the venue easily from central Harare, roughly 12 km away.

Wear comfortable shoes — the grounds are extensive and partly unpaved. Early June in Harare sits in the dry season, with warm days (around 23°C) and cool evenings, so a light layer is useful if you plan to stay for the evening programme.
